BIO

Friendy are a NYC-based, Jerusalem-bred band, signed under GSI Records, run by world renowned drummer, Eric Harland.

Friendy is the world’s first Anime Jazz band- with it’s music fusing supercharged rock with contemporary jazz, while drawing inspiration from animated Japanese TV shows and films. The band is about to release it’s debut album, “Friendy Fire”, on February 5th, 2021.

Friendy’s players have been playing together for over 13 years and with time they have created unique compositional and improvisational styles, inspired by Shostackovich, Allan Holdsworth and the melodicism of anime OP’s.

Friendy’s members have been living in NYC and Boston for the past 3 years and have performed regularly on the scene. They have played or recorded with the likes of Kenny Garrett, Mark Turner, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Dave Douglas, Alex Sipiagin, Andy Mckee (bass), Jonathan Finlayson, and more. They’ve also performed in venues and Festivals in the United States, Europe and Israel.

The band’s sense of humor is a big part of their style, and their social media accounts are full of videos featuring nonsense humor along with original music.

Currently, Friendy is back in Israel due to COVID-19’s impacts, but will be back to touring once the situation calms down. Meanwhile, they are performing in safe venues in Israel.
